Why Import a Site into Sitefire?

If you already have an existing website, you don't need to rebuild it from scratch! Sitefire allows you to import any live website directly by its public URL so you can edit, redesign, and manage it using our AI Chat widget.

How Importing Works

Sitefire makes it easy to bring your live website into the editor in just three simple steps:

Enter Your Website URL

Enter your website's active public URL (e.g., example.com or https://yourdomain.com) into the import input on the homepage or your dashboard.

Automatic Fetch & Structure Conversion

Sitefire fetches your public web page, captures the DOM layout, extracts CSS stylesheets and scripts, and splits the content into clean, modular sections ready for editing.

Edit and Redesign with AI

Your imported site opens directly in the Sitefire preview workspace. Use the AI Chat widget to request redesigns, update text, add new sections, or publish changes to a custom domain.

Public Access Required: The website URL must be publicly accessible over the internet (HTTP or HTTPS). Sites behind private logins, authentication walls, or running locally (such as localhost) cannot be fetched directly.

How AI Processes Imported Sites

During the import phase, Sitefire parses your HTML structures, CSS rules, and assets, building a semantic map of your pages. Once imported, you can use prompts like:

Multi-Page Imports & Origin URL Fallback

When you click internal links on your imported site inside the Sitefire preview workspace, Sitefire automatically fetches and imports those subpages on demand, migrating their images and stylesheets to Cloudflare R2 edge storage. If you point your custom domain's DNS to Sitefire before visiting every subpage, you can set your previous host's Old Site Origin / Preview URL (e.g., https://your-site.squarespace.com or https://your-site.webflow.io) in Custom Domain Setup so Sitefire can continue importing any remaining subpages and assets seamlessly.
